Shytown is…

Sarah Falkiner is a Chicago filmmaker, producer, writer, and founder of Shytown Sugar Films. She is driven by a belief that everyone has a story worth telling and that meaningful filmmaking begins with listening, collaboration, and community. Whether producing a feature film, directing a short, documenting a neighborhood, or helping an artist bring an idea to life, she is most inspired by the creative process and the people behind it.

Over the past several years, Sarah has directed more than a dozen independent films and produced the black and white silent horror feature Evil Usher, now completed and seeking distribution. Her work includes White Female (2022), Crimson (2023), and Bait & Switch (2026), and she is currently in post production on the mini documentary Wrestle Indie Park and The Antidote, written by Jon Hughes.

Through Shytown Sugar Films, Sarah collaborates with filmmakers, writers, musicians, visual artists, performers, nonprofits, and small businesses to transform ideas into finished projects. Known for her hands on approach and positive network of creative collaborators, she enjoys connecting people, building teams, and creating spaces where artists can support one another. Whether directing, writing, producing, or helping shape a project's vision, she takes pride in helping others bring their stories to life.
